Maurice R Gouin passed away March 12,2022 peacefully at home.
Born in Central Falls Rhode Island, a son of the late Marcel and Marie "Rita" Chartier Gouin. Moe was the loving husband of Carol Higgins Gouin, who he was married to for 46 "wonderful" years. He was the loving and devoted father of Erin Marie Deneault and her husband Christopher, and Mathew James Gouin and his wife Kate. He was also fondly known as Pepere Moe to his cherished grandchildren, Delaney and Keegan.
Moe is survived by his loving brothers and sisters, the late Madeline Stahowiak and her late husband Edward, the late Marcel Gouin and his wife Jannette, Margaret Fontaine and her husband Victor, Muriel Stuart and her husband Jeff and Michael Gouin and his wife Donna. He is also survived by many neices and nephews and friends, along with his Wife Carol's four surviving brothers and their families.
Moe was an veteran of the Army where he served at Fort Dix in New Jersey, where he was honorably discharged in 1974. He was a dedicated employee at Osram Sylvania in Rhode Island where he retired from after 35 years. From there he went on to deliver newspapers for the Sun Chronicle for 4 years. Moe was a dedicated father who gave his unwavering support to his children especially with their passions for sports. Starting with Erin's figure skating career where he would attend her practices no matter how early the start times and her all her competitions to cheer her on from the sidelines to Mathew's motocross racing where he was his own personal mechanic and pit crew. Moe truely enjoyed traveling in their family motorhome, whether it was with the family to Cape Hatteras or the motocross track or traveling cross country with Carol, those times and memories meant alot to him and his family. Moe was an avid Boston sports fan with the Red Sox and Patriots being his favorites, so much that his family bought and dedicated a brick with his name on it at Fenway park, so he will never have to miss a home game.
Calling hours for Moe will be held on Friday, March 18th from 4pm to 7pm with a service at 7pm at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Avenue.
